Faculty
Professors in the Berkeley-Columbia Executive MBA program, drawn from each school’s eminent faculty, synthesize scholarship and industry know-how. They convey complex issues clearly and memorably—in class, on conference calls and over lunch.
Powering Your Education
Internationally renowned faculty members—the same faculty that teach in both schools’ full-time programs—are leading creators of knowledge in their fields of specialty. They bring their extensive experience in the business world into the classroom, and their path-breaking research bridges academic theory and industry practice. Their ideas, honed through interaction with colleagues, students and business practitioners, are put into action in businesses around the world, helping to change organizational, management and financial practices. Both universities boast Nobel Prize winners on their faculties.
Many faculty members incorporate experience as consultants and board members into their teaching, grounding key concepts in vivid examples. Professor Philip Tetlock made a worldwide splash with his award-winning book, Expert Political Judgment: How Good Is It? How Can We Know? His 20-year study found that the better known and more frequently quoted political experts were, the less reliable their predictions were likely to be. From Nobel laureates to national economic advisors, the Berkeley-Columbia faculty is exceptionally accomplished, fully engaged in scholarship and industry practice and—perhaps most significant from a student standpoint— refreshingly accessible to program participants. In addition, you’ll benefit from regular guest lectures on both campuses. Executives and public leaders of the caliber of Dave Olsen of Starbucks, George Lucas of Lucasfilm, Kai-Fu Lee of Google Greater China and Abby Joseph Cohen of Goldman Sachs are invited to speak each term.
